This 1970s bungalow is perched on a hill overlooking one of the best inland views in Ireland. This design takes an imperfect house with the perfect view and re-creates it as a home for a family with young children.
The majority of the existing fabric is retained while modest extensions to the north and east transform the home’s living capacity and its connection to its stunning surroundings. A wooden “box" at the center of the home accommodates the stairs, WC, and storage, but most importantly acts as a crucial circulation device. Long dark interior corridors can be eliminated and instead the house's circulation rotates around the box. The box is a piece of crafted furniture at the center of the house that offers warmth, personality, and key functions.
