This 19th century cottage currently lies in ruins in rural Ireland. Its intrepid owners are seeking to bring it back to life and transform it into a cozy rural retreat. The design respects the existing fabric of the robust stone walls while also creating new spaces that allow for enhanced engagement with the beautiful surroundings and expanded space for living. The design was conceived to also allow for a phased renovation in 3 stages, allowing the homeowners to set the pace for the project that aligns best with their lives. Precise, thoughtful interventions, a clear reading of old and new, and a design that is responsive to both people and place will allow this building to live on into its next century.
